The 2009 AAU Judo Grand National Championships will be throwing the competition for a loop. On July 17th and 18th, the Grand Nationals will toss all others from the schedule and become Kearney, Missouri’s priority. The two day competition will begin on Friday when all competitors will participate in weigh-ins while coaches and referees learn the ropes and lay down the law at their respective meetings.

With hundreds of competitors already registered the competition is sure to be fierce and fast paced. Men and women between the ages of 6 and 50 plus will compete in the junior, collegiate, masters, and seniors divisions. Athletes will be grouped based on a combination of age and weight.

Opening ceremonies will begin in the morning to kick off the event. Afterwards, the technique division will get things rolling on Friday evening. Saturday the contestants will take it to another level as all shiai categories will be held on July 18th.

For their efforts, all contestants will receive an official AAU T-Shirt. For those who can step above the rest, AAU National Championship Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place competitors in each and every category.
