2009 AAU Boys’ Basketball Super Showcases
July 21st, 2009Who has got next? The 2009 AAU Boys’ Basketball Super Showcases do, that’s who. This July the best amateur basketball players in the country will come to Orlando, Florida to compete at Disney’s Wide World of Sports. From the 20th to the 27th, the boys will give everything they have to do what they do best…win. The 15U’s will take their shot at the title between the 20th and the 23rd, while the 16U’s run and gun from the 21st to the 24th. The 17U boys will slam the competition home in the Showcase finale from the 23rd to the 27th. This isn’t your daddy’s tournament; this is hard nosed, winner takes all, cut the nets down championship basketball.
The competition is soaring with the best teams from across the country. This invite-only tournament pits the premiere junior basketball players in the country in the same gym. The 15U division is comprised of the best 76 hand selected teams in the country. Stepping their games up, the 16U’s will put the top 100 teams nose to nose for the gold. Never outmatched or outclassed, 17U’s prove that they are the nation’s most valuable recruits as the silver division boasts 132 preeminent teams and the gold division claims the 32 paramount programs in the country vying for their chance to reign as number one. Think that this isn’t a national championship caliber field? Think again. The teams span 26 states including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Illinois, Florida, New Jersey, Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee, Michigan, New Mexico, New York, Maryland, Rhode Island, Virginia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, Connecticut, Arizona, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Texas. Welcome to the big dance ladies and gentlemen; you won’t find a more intense competition anywhere in the country.
Knowing that these are the best of the best, the college coaches will be out in full force looking to find the next diaper dandies. Coaches want to know how a player will react on the big stage. They don’t want to wait to put their freshman sensation on the floor in the final four. The college coaches are looking to find out which of tomorrow’s stars are prime time players today. All of these questions will be answered when the shot clock screams on the tournaments’ final games. Keep your court vision trained on the players and the stands with the top coaches from the ACC, SEC, Big East, and Big Ten all expected to be on the prowl.
The college coaches aren’t the only celebrities interested in this year’s supreme summer basketball show. Though they may not make it to the show, expect to feel the presence of some NBA stars in the building. Specific teams will try to take up their idols’ mantels as they are sponsored by the likes of Carmello Anthony, Chris Paul, Derek Anderson, Dwight Howard, Marreese Speights, Cuttino Mobley, among others.
