Young Arnold Tucker’s Family Visits AAU Headquarters

It has been 63 years since Mr. Arnold Tucker was awarded the James E. Sullivan Memorial Award for his outstanding athleticism in football as a cadet at West Point. While playing from 1944-1947 he led the Black Knights to an 18-0-1 record as their starting quarterback and was a member of the three National Championship teams.

Tucker also aided the Army team as a defensive back setting school records for interceptions. He was inducted into the College Hall of Fame this past summer. The AAU National Office Staff had the opportunity to meet some of his family in early September. They were on vacation in the Orlando area and dropped in to view Mr. Tucker’s portrait on our Sullivan Wall of Fame as well as to share their story. Mr. Tucker is still going strong in his 80’s and walks five miles a day. Congratulations again to Mr. Tucker and we enjoyed meeting his family at the AAU Office in Lake Buena Vista.
