November 29, 2006 - The AAU is happy to announce the 2006 AAU Cross Country National Championships are our biggest yet!

Over 2,500 athletes will be participating in this premier cross country event. That’s an increase of over 550 more athletes than last year!

The AAU continues to extend more participation opportunities to all its members. This year, introduced for the first time, are single age group divisions – a move enthusiastically received by parents and coaches alike!

If you are in the Orlando, Florida area, be sure and check out the outstanding athletes who will be competing this weekend.

November 21, 2006 – Thousands of athletes are set to descend on the Orlando, Florida area for the 2006 AAU Cross Country National Championships to be held Saturday, December 2, 2006. Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex will play host for this premier AAU event. Over 2,500 athletes are expected – eclipsing the 2,000 participants for the 2005 event in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Divisions are offered for both Boys & Girls ranging from 8 to 18 years of age. New for 2006, this is the first year of single age groups in both individual and team competition. Also new for this year, the sub-bantam team competition has been changed to a 3-person team.Medals will be awarded to the top 25 finishers and the Team Champion will also receive a commerative plaque.Entry Information including Online Registration, Course Maps, and more is available at www.aauathletics.org
