2010 AAU Baseball Super Showcases
November 30th, 20092009 marked the inaugural AAU Super Showcases for 14U and 15U teams. Coming up on it’s second season, this unique event features 12 teams per age group that have been specifically invited by the AAU Baseball Executive Committee. The Committee looks to invite the finest 14U and 15U talent available from across the country.
Held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida, June 21-26, teams will compete in four pool-play games to determine their rankings for the final segment of the tournament: a single-elimination round for the crystal trophy.
After the first two pool-play games, teams spend a day in a combine measuring their baseball skills: running speed, arm speed, batting, fielding, and others. The combine is conducted by Global Scouting Bureau, an international organization with offices in Louisiana and Florida. Each athlete is provided with an individual evaluation, and his results are posted online.
In some other organizations, Showcases are about the fees they generate. In AAU, it’s about the talent. The entry fee for the six-day event is a nominal $375. That fee also includes four hotel rooms for five nights. This kind of opportunity just doesn’t exist elsewhere.
If your team has what it takes to hang with the best teams in the country, go to www.aaubaseball.org > Events > Super Showcase, then scroll to your age division and click on Consideration for Invitation. Within a week, you will be sent an application for review by the National Baseball Executive Committee. Hurry, the slots are filling fast with some of the best teams in the country!
