NCAA 2009 College Cups come to a close
December 14th, 2009Collegiate soccer comes to a close with 2 teams battling in the championship game for both men’s and women’s. These athletes have trained all year and prepared themselves for that final game. Who celebrated when the clock ticked to zero?In the Women’s College Cup, played on December 6th, 2009 in College Station, Texas, the University of North Carolina Tarheels challenged the Stanford Cardinals.
This final game was close but the Lady Tarheels were crowned National Champions with a 1 – 0 victory.On December, 13th, 2009, in Cary, North Carolina, Akron stepped onto the field to play Virginia in the 2009 Men’s College Cup. These two teams competed and left it all out on the field. In overtime, the Virginia Cavaliers outscored the Akron Zips 3-2 in penalty kicks. Congratulations to the Lady Tarheels and the Cavaliers on the title of 2009 NCAA Soccer National Champions.
