WBHOF Horizontal LogoFebruary 22, 2010 – The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame is excited to announce that plans for its 2nd annual Select Girls Basketball Camp are underway. The 2010 Select Camp, an exposure event for high school girls basketball players, will be held July 24-26 at Maryville College (Maryville, TN). This camp will give athletes the chance to play against top-notch talent and fine-tune their skills, while gaining exposure from some of the top collegiate programs in the country.

“Our camps and clinics are a big part of how we fulfill our mission to ‘honor the past, celebrate the present and promote the future’ of women’s basketball,” said WBHOF VP/GM Dana Hart. “We plan to build on last year’s camp so that this becomes an annual event that athletes look forward to attending. We are always trying to help develop the next great women’s basketball player.”

The 2009 Select Camp marked the WBHOF’s inaugural event. Players from all over the country attended, representing 14 states, and created a competitive atmosphere in station-work, games and competitions. The response from the 2009 Select Camp Participants was very positive.

“Patrina (Goree) came back from (the Select) camp motivated and excited,” said LaQuita Thompson, CEO of the Xtreme Heat Sports Management in Texas. “It is because of (the Select) camp that she is doing as well as she is (this season) and she believes it now.”

The 2010 Select Camp will once again be sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union and feature the AAU’s Complete Athlete Program presented by Dr. W. Leroy Fanning from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

This year’s camp will also feature the experience of Jackie Ansley, CEO/Owner/Performance Coach of Performance Training., Inc. Ansley will facilitate ACL analysis on each player, SAQ stations, preventative injury workouts and player evaluations throughout the three-day event.

“We are very excited to get Jackie involved in our 2010 Select Camp,” Hart said. “She has been involved in women’s basketball at the highest level for many years and can definitely add a new dynamic to this event.”

The registration fee for the 2010 Select Camp is $500 and includes all basketball activities, skills and games, trip to the WBHOF in Knoxville, lodging in Maryville College’s dormitories, all-you-can-eat meals for three days, reversible game jersey and a one-time family pass to the WBHOF. A $50 discount will be offered to anyone that registers prior to June 1, 2010 and an additional $50 discount will be given to returning participants. Any participant that refers a friend to the camp will receive a free WBHOF t-shirt.

Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA college coaches will be invited to attend the camp on Sunday, July 25 and Monday, July 26.
