ESPN Rise Games Opening Ceremonies

DSC_3603The ESPN Rise Games Opening Ceremonies were a huge success. Over 15,000 athletes from all over the country, including Puerto Rico and other countries are competing at the ESPN Rise Games. The Opening Ceremonies took place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Champion Stadium.

DSC_3802There were over 1,100 athletes and coaches who marched into the stadium during the “Parade of Athletes”. The ceremonies included a basketball slam dunk contest, a lacrosse shoot out, a baseball throwing contest, and a girls’ and boys’ track race.

Special guest, Mickey Mouse was on hand to get everyone pumped up and excited about the games. Commentators, Michael Smith, Jay Corbin, and Nicole Haynes were on stage hosting the event and talking to the audience.

Dushaun Thompson, a track and field athlete from the Tri-City Jets in Richmond Virginia, lit the torch for the Opening Ceremonies, which officially marked the opening of the Games.
