LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL- Well Baseball Fans, the first wave of AAU Baseball Nationals and AAU Baseball Super Showcase are over! It stacked up to be a very exciting week of game play at ESPN Wide World of Sports at the Walt Disney World Resort. But wait, there’s more. The 11u, 12u and 13u teams kick out their AAU Baseball Grand Nationals this week! Some games will be broadcast on ESPN3 on Saturday 6/30! Be sure to tune in (11u-10:00 AM, 12u 12:30 PM, 13u 7:00PM EST).
For the 9U age group, the Mount Dora Red Hawks and CBC Riverhawks Black went head to head for the championship with the Riverhawks coming out on top taking home the gold medal and the title.
In the 10U Diamond division, Team MVP represented in the final for the 2nd year in a row. Unlike last year and losing a close one to Team Miami, this year they came out the victors versus the CBC RiverHawks Black 10-3. The Miami Bulldogs took a 4-3 victory versus Oakleaf Red Knights to take the 10u Gold Bracket National Title. CLICK HERE to view the 10u Diamond Final photo gallery.
While all of these Grand Nationals games were taking place, the Underclass and 14U Super Showcases were in full battle mode around the park. In the 14 and under bracket, EvoShield Canes faced off against the Chet Lemons Juice, but it was the Juice who seemed to be too much for the Canes. Juice take a shutout and the AAU 14u Super Showcase title.
In the Underclassmen division, Chet Lemon’s Juice faced off against the reigning champions– the Carrollwood Gators. The Juice didn’t let that bother them though. They topped the reigning champs also with a shutout 3-0 to take the Underclassmen Super Showcase title.
During the week, Super Showcase teams participated in All Star day where they were mentored and coached by former Major Leaguers Mark Whitten, Jason Romano, Mike O’Malley, and Louie Martinez through a skills competition and a homerun derby in each age group. Following the derby and the skills competition, coach selected players from each team were compiled together to make two All Star teams who competed against each other for two electrifying All Star Games. Check out the highlights from the home run derby, and All-Star Games below.
